My Story

Growing up in Baltimore, I witnessed firsthand the deep racial inequities that shaped my community. As a Black woman raised by a single mother alongside two older sisters, I came to understand the compounded challenges we faced while navigating life at the intersection of race, gender, and socioeconomic disadvantage.

Our upbringing was marked by instability: drug abuse, domestic violence, and periods of homelessness.

In an effort to outrun the assumptions attached to that reality, I sought out "good schools," perfected the art of code-switching, and threw myself into my career.

But no matter how far I climbed, I couldn’t escape the invisible weight of navigating corporate spaces as a Black woman in a capitalist system. Being too agreeable and friendly made others see me as weak and unfit to lead, however once I started voicing my boundaries and concerns, I was seen as problematic. It felt like there was no winning. After enduring three layoffs and several toxic work environments, I went searching for belonging, for understanding, for a space that offered culturally grounded support and community. Outside of frequent venting sessions that ended in tears as my sisters and I detailed daily work traumas as black women, I didn’t have another space.

So I created The Sis Sanctuary.

With over a decade of experience designing high-impact programs, more than five years of cross-industry career coaching, and certifications in Professional Coaching and Workforce Development, I launched The Sis Sanctuary as a brave, affirming space for Black women in the workplace.

The Sis Sanctuary is for us.

It’s a space where Black women can be fully and unapologetically themselves without the pressure to conform or perform. Here, we center career growth, community, and holistic well-being in ways that affirm our lived experiences.

Together, we navigate life’s complexities, embrace our imperfections, and grow personally and professionally.

Because healing and success should never be out of reach for us.

And now, they’re not.
